Skip the Awkwardness: How to Nail Ceremony Seating Like a Pro

Picture this: a sea of empty chairs up front, with guests huddled awkwardly at the back like they're waiting for the last train home. Not the vibe you want for your Ceremony, right? But for some strange reason, there’s this unspoken rule about not sitting in the front. It starts with the Celebrant trying to coax people forward with a few jokes, but soon turns into a game of “who can ignore the invitation the longest.” Awkward!

Let’s skip the weirdness with this easy seating guide:

  • Front row royalty: Immediate family, basking in all the glory
  • VIP section: Wedding party, if you choose to seat them. Some Brides love having their Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids in view for that extra dose of moral support and to settle their nerves
  • Party in the back: Extended family or your besties

And hey, tradition says Partner 1’s family sits on the same side they’re standing, but why not switch it up? Have them sit on the opposite side so they can marvel at your dazzling face instead of the (still very attractive) back of your head.

Here’s the golden rule: either make sure there’s a chair for everyone, go wild and mix the chairs altogether, or take the classy route with reserved seating cards. Trust me, you’ll be glad you did!
