Wedding Ceremonies Defined

We are dedicated to empowering individuals through hyper-personalised, meaningful experiences that reflect their values, beliefs, and personalities.

While certain elements are required in every wedding ceremony, beyond that, you have the freedom to design a ceremony that truly reflects your unique bond as a couple.

Traditional and nondenominational ceremonies offer flexibility, whilst religious ceremonies, like Catholic weddings, have specific guidelines. Whether your ceremony is formal, relaxed, or full of fun, what truly makes it stand out is its authenticity and sincerity. A truly alchemised ceremony considers a combination of some of the below features:

  • Processional - the walking down the aisle moment
  • Welcome & Introduction
  • Family Blessing, Acknowledgements and Giving Away
  • Words about Love & Marriage
  • The couple's story
  • Symbolic Rituals
  • Readings or Poems
  • The asking
  • The Monitum (Legal Requirement)
  • Legal Vows (Legal Requirement)
  • Personal Vows
  • Ring exchange
  • Declaration of marriage
  • The Kiss
  • Certificate Signing
  • Conclusion
  • Presentation of the newly married couple
  • Recessional - walking back down the aisle

The moments in bold font are legally required and cannot be changed. Anything else can be removed or redefined.

So what are the legal requirements?
A Celebrant must state the Monitum, conduct the legal exchange of vows, and take care of the signing of marriage documents which includes the couple, two witnesses who are above the age of eighteen, and the Marriage Celebrant.
Additionally, your chosen Celebrant will offer valuable guidance throughout the process and clarify any obligations that the couple must meet under the Marriage Act 1961.
